New to the wonderful world of the 986!

Hello 986forum!

As the topic says, I'm new to the world of the 986!

Recently bought a 2001 Arctic Silver Boxster S. I got it from one of my best buds who has owned and loved it but realized that having 2 sports cars was a bit too indulgent. So, he offered it to me to keep it 'within the family! The missus was supportive so I immediately snatched the opportunity (before she changes her mind)!

I call her 'Brenda', a play on her license plate. (My wife would have called her mid-life crisis! Ha!) All I wanted was a nice 2-door sports car as I turned 3_ and would have been happy with a MX5, a Toyota86 or a Subaru BRZ. Getting a Porsche was more than I could have hoped for!

The car was in good shape save for some minor niggles that you could expect from a 12 year-old car. I was perfectly happy to get Brenda back in good shape and keep her in OEM look.

All this happened before I discovered 986forum. Now I'm obsessed with updating the interior, finding the right bumper cover, looking for the coolest replacement wheels, and whether to go with a hard top, a soft top with plastic or glass window!

Thanks to this forum, I'm sure it would be an enjoyable journey!

Btw, I work in Singapore but keep Brenda in the Philippines. My tryst with her is limited to a few days every month...until I return to Manila for good!

Cheers!

Welcome to our little corner of the world (metaphorically speaking that is). Using the search function you can find the answer to just about any question that you can dream up. And, be sure to post pictures of Brenda at your earliest convenience.

Welcome! I too am a 986 newbie. Bought a 2004 base Boxster with 49,000 miles on the clock. I have a 1967 MGB as well, but I have to keep them in separate garages so they don't get jealous of each other. Regards, Mitch from NY.
