My trunk has a mind of its own...

Seems like when ever I need the trunk (rear) it gets stuck! It always seems to happen when I have a trunk full of groceries. I looked at it this weekend and noticed these conditions...

The release motor will alway activates.
When it doesn't release the lock the cable only moves about 1mm.
When it does open, the lock will move about 5mm. Enough to release the lock.

So a couple of questions.

Is there some kind of sensor, that may be giving a bad signal?
Is the release motor part of the locking mechanism. I couldn't find anything in PET.

Thanks to All.

Because the release works sporadically, it sounds like it needs lubrication.
