CDR23 Direct fit to pre 03 Boxster?

Has anyone installed a CDR23 into a Boxster that has a CD220 or CDR220?? Is this a direct plug in option or is it not going to work?

My car had the CD220 (Tape Player Stereo) and the customer put an aftermarket CD player in that sounds like absolute crap. I want to put in an OEM CD player. Aside from the CDR220, with the CDR23 work? Any other options?

Thanks in advance. I did a quick search and came up short.

The CDR23 used the MOST fiber optics bus, which does not exist in the earlier cars.

Ah good to know, Thanks a lot for the quick response. My hunt for a CDR220 is on!

I appreciate it.

I'm not totally sure of this, but I think there are two different CDR23s. I've just swapped mine for a used one. The one I purchased has an internal amplifier and the MOST connections, which I guess will run speakers connected in to the headunit, but it also runs the MOST setup. My old one was not like this. It would be worth checking with Becker to confirm. If it will work for you, you'll need to get it unlocked as it does not use a pin security. I know this site is in the UK but it might help with what your looking for... DND Services Ltd****::****Decode****::****Decode - Workshop Service****::****Porsche CDR23
