How to check my oil?

I know how to check it, but when warm it reads down 1 or 2 bars, but when I check it cold it reads full. I don't want to overfill, but also don't want to run low on oil. What's the right compromise?

The car is an 08' Boxster RS60 with 9000 miles.

TIA.

Very easy, follow the manual. It says with the engine fully warm, that means about a half hour after the temp guage stabilises, turn off the car, wait a "few minutes", to me that means 3-5 and measure. This measurement will easily be a 1-3 bar lower than when you ceck the oil dead cold in the morning.
