Repaint a DD?

My boxster is a DD and will remain so, but it had a few dings to begin with and is getting more. Mostly from road chips. After cleaning the car today though, I have noticed a few new scrapes. <sigh> I'm a bit curious how often people repaint their cars and if they do how they do it. And what it costs too. :) I did search and the most repainted items is the front/rear panels. No surprise there with a cost of between $250 and $1000 depending on how it was done and where.

If you don't mind, please tale a look at the attached poll and tell me what you think about the options for repainting my boxster. I do have the capability to repaint my car. Could even do the whole car at once if could find a space to rent. Although time & fees might catch up to me and be more of an issue there so it would probably be best to have a professional do it.

I just got my Box back last night after a complete front end respray. Removed the bumper and hood for sanding and repaint. Blended the front fenders. Removed 2 small dents. The car looks new again and it's a 2000. Cost was $850 and worth every penny. Here is a picture from our porsche club run today.
Mine is the first car on the right.

Thanks for the feedback.

I think I'll find a few local paint shops and see what they can give me for an estimate. I'll ask them their opinion on the best way to get the job done right. As part of geeting the job done right, I'll be looking at tome type of clear protectant for the front bumper and hood afterwards to make sure it stays that way as long as possible.
