1999 Boxster Backfire/stall

Hey Forum! I have a 1999 Boxter that is backfiring, stalls, and will not reach more than 5 mph while cold. I had a read on the code and changed all plugs and coil packs. Didnt fix the problem. Is this a common symptom of the MAF failing? Thanks for any help!!

What codes were stored? Backfiring can be multiple things...... from lean condition (vacuum leak, maf skewed lean, all the way to stretched/failed timing chain.

Has it been sitting? What does it do warmed up?

That is what my 99 boxster did too. I replaced the MAF, even though there were no codes for it. My guess you have very poor performance at higher rpms too. Take the sensor out and clean it, and if it helps, then get a new sensor.
