Trusted Arizona Porsche Shop

I'm looking to have some serious engine work done this year (3.4 or 3.6)
I was wondering if anyone knew a dependable, trustworthy Porsche shop in Arizona (greater Phoenix area) that is knowledgeable about what I'm about to do.

Or would you guys recommend driving it to the specialists in California?

About to have my clutch and IMS bearing replaced by Mcilvain Motors in Tempe. So far he's been really good about flexible scheduling and answering all of my questions. I'll let you know how it goes.

I second McIlvain motors. Scott has the education, education, and integrity...and does all the work. If he is not comfortable with the job, he has the contacts in the area.

I'll ask him if he's done any engine swaps before.

He's got my 2001 Boxster S on the lift today, doing the LN Engineering IMS Retrofit. He informs me that I am lucky and have the double row bearing, which are much more reliable than the single row. I'm having him do the bearing, new clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing, new RMS, coolant flush, new water pump, new 160F thermostat, new drive belt, and finally new oil & filter.

If I could just have a brief moment of silence for my wallet, I'd appreciate it.

After this, though, I should be good for a looooong time

OK, got the Boxster back today.

I would definitely recommend Mcilvain Motors. Scott (the owner) obviously cares a great deal about his customers and his work. I gather that he fairly recently opened his shop, but has decades of Porsche experience, therefore he puts forth great effort to ensure a good customer service experience. Even though it's a 2 hour drive each way for me, I will use him any time I need service more complicated than an oil change.

Thanks for the info. I am going to take my 2003 S in to Scott for LN retrofit. I talked to him today and he seems like a good guy. Everything still ok with your install?
