Lightbulb Which is the bigger car...996 or 986?

I recently got a really beautiful yellow C4S model in 1:18 scale to match my red Boxster. I've been coveting the C4S since riding with Mark on the Newport Run.

Anyway, I put these models together and guess what? The overall length is about the same, but the wheelbase of the Boxster is significantly longer! Looking at it it is easy to see that with a mid engine you need more space between the wheels; on a rear engine you probably need to push that back axle forward a little bit.

But I always thought of the 996 as being "bigger" now I'm not sure.
