K Band School Bus

The school buses in El Paso are sending out an very strong K Band signal. Does anyone else have this problem in their neck of the woods? Do you think they purposely have an emitter?

Does your detector do SWS (Safety Warning System)? That’s probably what it is. Some things like school buses, ambulances, and police .can broadcast an SWS message that lets people with radar detectors know they are coming. A SWS detector can recognize something like 64 preset messages (like “School Bus Loading/Unloading”). I think it runs at K, so if your detector doesn’t do it, or something is wrong with the signal, it could easily set off the K band of your detector.

I hope your cops don’t use K do they?!?! That would be a pain. 95% of the radars here are Ka.

I think you right about the SWS...didn't even think about that. I have a Passport X50 and it just sends me K Band warning. I haven't run across a cop that uses K Band yet...everything I have run into has been Ka. Is there a website somewhere that you can look up what the cops are using?
