HELP!!! Trunk completely stuck with NO Emergency Cable
Hello everyone,
I have yet another Dilemma with my Boxster. PLEASE READ COMPLETE STORY BECAUSE MY EMERGENCY CABLE WAS SOMEHOW UNHOOKED AND JUST CAME OUT WHEN I PULLED ON IT. I did the complete procedure of taking apart the rear bumper and removing everything, then I found the secondary trunk release cable, I then pulled on the cable to release the trunk lock but the complete cable came out as if it was never attached to anything. Would anyone who has done this before or taken apart a complete Boxster be able to show/tell me an alternative way to open a stuck trunk lid without the emergency cable. Now, is there ANY OTHER WAY to release the trunk lock. Or anywhere I can cut out a hole to be able to get to the lock mechanism to release it by hand? Thanks in advance, Riz |
Have to drill a hole :(
If you run a search, another member just did this. |
I just want to know WHERE EXACTLY SHOULD I DRILL THE HOLE...

So, I eventually got the trunk open by wedging something small between the seal and the lid for visibility. I then used a slim 10mm wrench to open the 2 10mm bolts that were constraining the hook half of the lock onto the trunk lid. It was extremely simple as the bolts came loose really fast.
The cables were fine and not popped nor wrecked! The little C-clip that held both cables onto the lock shaft was missing. Therefore, both cables had slid off. PLEASE DO NOT DRILL HOLES IN YOUR CAR BECAUSE IT'S NOT NECESSARY. I FOUND THE ALTERNATIVE BY SEARCHING AND FINDING SOMEONE ELSE WHO DID THIS AS I DESCRIBED. |
Nice!!! Glad it worked out
