This is really interesting. 2001 seems to dominate.
I have both an 08 and 02 but I can only vote once and voted as 2008. Since this is a 986 forum, where are the 987 owners go. Rennlist & 6speedonline don't have much activity and Planet 9 do have some Boxster activity but focused more on Caymans. |

Simple. Boxster Sales were highest in 2001. Look at the sales for the first year Boxster for trivia. Interesting.....

Awesome chart on sales. Any chance an up-to-date version with 987-era sales could be had as well? My google searches haven't turned up anything like this.

Blimey. Didn't know Boxster sales ever got that high. Nearly 30k in one year.
Suspect even with the new 981 out they aren't anywhere near that high currently. Think the 911 has been generally on the slide the last three or four years, too. Sales of the sports car models are, I suspect, in slow long term decline. The big growth markets (China! etc) don't go for sports cars. |
From my VIN, I believe my '97 was within the first one thousand made...

The last 6 digits should be the sequence for that year.
