Because We All Enjoy Photos of Boxsters - Self Ingratiating

I bought the Boxster new on April 3, 2001, after special ordering it. The window sticker was $59,997.00 and it was $65,194.04 out the door.

I optioned it with;

Comfort Package ($2,090)
Self-Dim Mirrors & Rain Sensor ($690)
Heated Front Seat Package ($400)
Sport Touring Package ($2,870)
Xenon Headlights ($1,070)
Headlight Washer ($225) – these were a must have if you ordered Xenon Headlights
Wheels Caps with Colored Crest ($170)
Porsche Stability Management ($1,215)
Black Mats ($92)
Porsche Crest in Headrest ($210).

Since owning the car I have added the following;

'03 18" S Wheels
’03 Top with Glass Window
’03 Tail Lights
'03 S Exhaust Modified by FDM
Red Seat Belts
Red Rear Console
Aluminum E-Brake & Shift Knob
997 GTS Shift Console
Bird Arm Rest
Kenwood Double Din Radio & Navigation
Back-Up Camera
Parrot Bluetooth
Modified Steering Wheel by CarDreams
Leather Air Bag
Garage & Gate Switch Hack using 996 Targa Roof Switches
Spoiler Dash Indicator Light & Switch
Rennline Dead Pedal
Foot Well Lights
Clear Front Side Lights
De-Ambered Headlights
Silver Hood Crest

No engine or suspension mods…. yet. The only repair I have paid for out of warranty was a bad rear wheel bearing. I do (& enjoy) a lot of DIY maintenance; oil, filters fluids and so on.

I have had two 993 Porsches while owning the Boxster; a cab and a turbo. Both were great cars, but the Boxster was a keeper.

And… the photos;

Nice and clean. Love the backup camera. We have it on my wife's Prius and previous cars. I heard good things about CarDreams. From the time you shipped your wheel to them, how long did it take before you received it? Does you factory equalizer work with the Kenwood?

Thanks. I enjoy waxing it!

I have had four wheels modified by CarDreams in Poland. It took anywhere from 4 to eight weeks to get it back. Not quick, but well worth it. I even had them do one for my Tundra truck.

The DSP does works with the Kenwood.

I have DSP as well and always wondered if it will be compatible with other radios.

8 weeks! You have the patience to not drive the car for that long? Nice steering wheel. I'm tempted.

Nice color!

I really like the interior aluminum accents. Where did you obtain the parking brake and shifter? What paint brand did you use for your center console?

Thanks

Thank you.

The '04 Special Edition came with the aluminum accents standard. I was breathless when I saw this car after looking at 20 Boxsters in 3 days in LA. Interior is totally original and color / trim are unique to the SE, as well as many other features.

I just want to thank you people out there that buy new Porsches and take care of them. Then I have to thank the second owners who buy them from you and also take care of them. Without those two people, I would not be able to know how wonderful it is to own a piece of machinery like this. (I was lucky and had a third owner that took care of his Boxster before I bought it, but I already thanked him.)

Chuck, give me a ring in about 5-6 years when you are ready to part ways with it. :D

Ebay and Craigslist. Every once in awhile, someone will post a BIN for a killer price. The center console was bought off eBay also. Another killer deal.

You are a smart man. Buying used is much financially smarter. But, it should be noted I haven't lost a penny on the car yet due to depreciation.... at least in my pocket, on paper, oh yeah. Big time.

Keep it long enough and you may just get all your money back!

(especially if the U.S. keeps printing money...)

Beautiful car Chuck! Is the top still the original? It looks brand new! Although the whole car looks perfect!

Perfectlap 02-19-2013 08:55 AM

Excellent interior. The upgrades make all the difference. I'm always surprised when I see even 996 Turbos, once $100+K cars with none of the upgrades. Totally makes it look plasticky and cheap. OTOH Porsche price their Tequipment items in the nosebleeds. I have the carbon fiber shifter, can't believe I paid over $300 for that thing but after scoring a rear center console painted in silver for a steal (new never installed from Ebay) I decided to splurge. Next I'm thinking about removing the door carpeting and changing it for a black leather with a quilt stitching pattern. Kinda like you see on those Lamborghinis.

A lot of tasteful mods there Chuck!
Is that a garage door opener button(s) down on the bottom beneath the CD doodad?

Thanks. And so true. If you ordered the foot well lights from the factory they were $710. Get into carbon stuff and you are over the top. The interior package- Carbon was $4,350! The Aerokit, Front and Rear Spoiler and Rocker panel covers was $6,225 option.

One nice thing now is a lot of these parts are available from part cars for a fair price.

Thanks. The top came off of an '03. It was is great shape when I got it. I also just water proofed it with Renovo Ultra Proofer. It not only waterproofs the top but gives it a uniform black look.

No regrets in selling the Turbo given the strength of that market?

Not really. Had a great time with it but it was one of five cars at the time and spent a majority of the time in the garage covered on the battery tender. And I got a fair price for it.

Having read your posts on Rennlist when you had your 993 TT and occasionally popping in here from time to time, I gotta say Chuck, your 986 is about as perfect as I could imagine. If I were to get another, your mods would be exactly what I would do / look for in a prospective car. Until then, I will enjoy the 993 which has proven to be a completely different animal.........

Thanks. Loved the 993s. And, the folks on Rennlist were the best. I learned more on that forum than anywhere else. They are true car enthusiast.
