986 LED tail lights
which is better? I'm leaning towards the smoked because the other looks a little too bright/busy. The smoked would probably look better since my wheels were refinished in gun metal from the standard silver. I'm not a 100% sold on either though.

Smoked. For sure.

Personally, I'd go with clear. I've always thought that smoked looks a bit juvenile/ghetto fabulous :p
Would look great with some gold spoke wheels :barf: JM2C |
I like clear in fact thats probably what I will buy for mine ( whenI get it)

has anyone simply swapped out the old school bulbs for LEDs? Is it even doable with the factory housing?

It is not doable with the factory housing. The polarity is reversed. with LED bulbs, polarity counts (unlike regular bulbs). |

You almost killed me there. I do think the clear will look better on light colors, but for the dark ones, the smoked looks awesome ( I got them on my black car ). But golden wheels ? |
For a silver car, I would go clear.
I have smoked on my black car, and find myself wanting something in-between the clear and smoked. |
Clear for me...oh and dont forget to change those bulbs to silver coated...http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01/2331361015571.jpg

I went with clear, and I am very happy with my choice, really updates the look!

I went clear LED after a period of smoked, don't forget to change the 3rd high brake light as well.
Posted this twice by mistake but cant seem to delete it. Guvs |

I like the smoke, it looks more custom.
|
I asked the same question awhile back and I'm really glad I went with smoked. The smoked lights look factory on my car, but my boxster is also black.
|
I'm kinda thinking about get the OEM clears set , they look like a lighter smoke than than my Depo LED set.
Here's my Depo setup. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/02/18/y6anyzuq.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/02/18/qa6ebube.jpg |
I like the blacked out on yellow, Guvs...smoked looks ok on black, but I think silver, blue, and white look best with clear.
