Inner CV joint

2004 Boxster S
I'm in the process of removing my engine. I just removed the exhaust and noticed a fine splater of grease forward of the left inner CV joint and also a small amount of grease on CV joint, is this normal? I've attached photo's.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1360895989.jpg

The clamp gets loose and grease leaks out. Grab the boot and twist it, if it moves then that's the problem. A hose clamp is the easiest solution.

Thanks for the reply.
I guess with that info, should I add more grease before putting things back together? If so what is the recommended grease type?

Pat.

Probably a good idea to add grease but I didn't when I had some grease leakage and everything seems fine. Pelican sells the grease.

i used this:
Pelican Parts - Product Information: SWE-101

replacing the rubber boot during the process will be a good idea, if you are already in there.

Ok I'll put that on the TO DO LIST for later assembly. I now have to remove the transmission and after, the engine.
I'll have to rig something to temporarily support the engine while I remove the transmission, thats going to be a PITA.

Thanks for the link Meir I've saved it for future needs, good prices.
I'm in New Brunswick Canada so I'm not able to get on-line purchases real quick and easy. That being said I do purchase online I just have to allow for the delivery time.
For now I'll try spanning from underneath with 2 jacks and a 4 x4 or 3X 3. This should allow me to get the transmission out and clear as well as maintain clear access to the engine with the ATV jack for the engine removal.
