AC maintenance during winter
One of my older car manual recommended running AC about once a week during the winter to keep the fitting from drying out and releasing the freon. Does this apply to 987 also? Would I lose the refrigent if I don't occasionally run AC during the winter months?
Thanks |
Man, if that the case my AC is shot already. I think I have turned it on once in the last 2 years to see if it actually worked. Who needs AC in a cabbriolet anyway. I wish Porsche had an AC delete option for boxsters...I would've marked that box.

kskimtahoe, look at page 200 for winter storage for the 987. No mention about running the AC in the new manual.

If you're driving it during the winter, it is good for the system to run it occassionally. If you have your climate control set to "Auto", it will run on its' own to help defog the windows. This also helps to keep the compressor from freezing up.
If you're storing, it's usually not in sub-freezing temps so you shouldn't have the problem of the compressor freezing. |
