Can One Relocate the Rear Emergency Release for Easier Access?

Somebody - aka a bozo - tried to pull around my car today while I was stopped in traffic. In the process, he did minor, but nonetheless expensive, damage to the rear bumper cover. It will have to come off the car for replacement. Total bill ~ $1700. Wow!

So here's my question. Because I'll have the bumper cover off of the car, is there a relocation suggestion akin to what one does with the front trunk emergency release that will allow me to access the rear cable without having to remover the rear fender liner.

I've search several forum and come up dry. Your suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

If you have the bumper off you see the two aluminum subframes to with the two rubber bumpers are attached to. I zip tied the emergency release cable to one of these so that you can access the cable if you take the rubber bumper off (which is very easy)
