Body Trim
Does anyone know what this part is called and where I might obtain one?
It fits in the area directly behind the door and is covered by a piece of body-colored trim that presses into it.
I'm thinking that a wrecking yard may be the best source, but I'll need to explain to the employee how to remove it by drilling out the rivets.

The black part is called a sealing strip in the Catalog.
Left is Part #986 514 633 02
Right is Part #986 514 634 02
Hope that helps

Ya and your local Porsche dealer probably won't charge to much for it, check with them.

I actually have an extra because when my hard top was first installed in touched this piece and marred it. I ended up asking the dealer for a replacement, that he mailed to me. I still have it but never installed it. How exactly does it attach to the car?

There are two rivets that go through the center. The part that holds the rivets is what broke on mine.
Do you want to sell your spare? I need the driver's side.
Thank

Let me look at my car and see if the damage on mine bothers me. I think I cleaned it up with a sharpie it was very minimal, but the car was new so I had complained. If I let it go, Ill just ask that you cover shipping. My extra is on the driver side too.

Thanks for the offer. Just let me know what you decide. If you decide to sell, just send me a PM with your Paypal or other payment information and I'll send you the postage.

In case anyone else ever faces this issue, the repair is relatively simple. Just drill out the two rivets holding the remaining portion of the part out. Take the silver piece that is held in place by the two rivets and swap it into the new part. Install the two new rivets and reattach the body-colored trim.
Total cost: $26.47 from Sunset Porsche
986-514-633-02 (Sealing strip) $19.77
999-190-445-37 (Rivets) .30
Shipping 6.10
I had contemplated just gluing the thing back together, but I think doing it the right way was worth the extra time and expense.
