987 Sport steering wheel

So Brandywine just quoted me $1300 for the sport steering wheel and associated air bag. All that for an option that costs $250 when you order the car.

Really sucks that Porsche listed both the standard and leather sport steering wheel in the Leather options section of the car configurator. I didn't look there at all since I wasn't going to add any leather. I had no idea the option even existed until after I'd taken delivery.

FWIW, I have the stnadard Sport Steering Wheel - $250 option. I'd have liked it to be thicker, and I saw an option for a Thicker Sport Steering Wheel. If you retrofit, see what other options are available first.

Are you saying you want it to be even thicker than the sport steering wheel? I've never seen an option for an "even-thicker" sport steering wheel!

The Sprot Steering Wheel (option code #435) for $250 is a slightly smaller diameter wheel with three spokes and a contoured rim, rounded center with thumb rests. Very nice wheel, and almost exactly same thinkness as the stock steering wheel.

There are about 5 different steering wheels that you can order for your car.

There is a "Thicker Wheel" option too, about $1,090. I have seen cars ordered that way and listed on the dealers web-site inventory link from Porsche's site. I don't know the option code. It is listed in the "Build your Own Porsche" on the Porsche web site.

If you go through the build process, and print it out at the summary page, it will list all of the codes for you.

Hmm.. interesting. When I built my car earlier this year I didn't see any of that! Bummer.

I've combed the entire porsche site when I was looking into options for my 05' 987. There was only 2 options for the sports steering wheel, standard or full leather. There was no thicker steering wheel option at the time.

The code for the thicker steering wheel is #XPA. And it costs $1,050.
