Question Boxster Clutch

Hi all,
This is my first post on this forum, so be kind
I've got a 2.5 Boxster that needs a new clutch. My local Porsche dealer here in Houston, Texas has given me a quote but I'm not convinced it's competitive.
What sort of cost and number of hours would you all expect to have the clutch changed on a 1999 2.5 Boxster ?? Or if any of you know of a good mechanic for the work in Houston, that'd be gratefully received too.
thanks very much in advance

I would expect labor to be around 8 hours and that should leave a little "oops" time. The complete clutch kit is available online for about ~$500. If you need a new flywheel, add ~$800.

Sharke22, you should call my mechanic here in Houston. He did my clutch for half of the dealership (and my tranny replacement, and my rear strut replacement, and my brake pads, and my O2 sensors, and my front control arm, and my.....

Call me for his number (832-474-7381) as I do not want to post it publically. He works days at a Porsche dealership and could lose his job if he advertises that he moonlights.

He lives off Dairy Ashford just north of Westheimer on the west side of Houston.
