A different bowling ball in the trunk
So now that my Boxster is falling apart I am chasing all kinds of gremlins and noises. The other day I had a severe knocking in the drivers rear wheel area. After parking I get out and shake the wheel and get a pronounced clunk and a good amount of movement. So I figure that the wheel bearing just grenaded. However after gingerly driving it home (no grinding, whining or normal bad wheel bearing noises) I let it cool and shake it again. This time nothing. I now have the wheel off and Im looking around.
I know that a bowling ball in the trunk can be the front motor mount. I replaced that not too long ago. I did get a good amount of movement in the wheel but now nothing? Could this be lower ball joint? strut? or still the bearing?
The bearings have been on the list to replace anyways, but while I am in there what else should I pry on to see if they need to be looked at as well? I was budgeting a full work through of the suspension next summer since I just did the clutch.
I have driven the car since and I get some squeaks and rattles but the bowling ball must have rolled out of the trunk. I'm mostly confused at how it could be an intermittent event.
