How to Lube the Convertible top Frame?
All,
I have REALLY loud creeks and groans from my convertible top ('03 S) when I turn up an incline (my driveway- 100% of the time) and occasionally over bumps and in turns. I can't place the sound directly - sounds like it's coming from behind my head. I assume this is frame related- can the frame be lubricated and if so how? Thanks. |

It's clearly not- my seat isn't that far back anyway . This sound is a loud, cracking, groaning type of sound that definitlely is coming from the roof structure. It happens when the car is 'twisted' as in sharp uphill or downhill off camber turns |
Put the top in the service position and put a couple of drops of oil from an oil can on each of the pivots. Theres a lot of them, especially at the bottom of the mechanism.

I always lubricate the frame when replacing the plastic window or replacing the top. Don't forget to grease side tracks!!!!!
