"Sweating" around coolant/oil caps
 

Gents,
Is this normal? Only started to be noticeable once the weather got kind of cold. Oil cap was recently replaced with newest revision about 2 weeks ago. Both caps make a good seal (according to "feel"). I can't tell what the "sweat" is, but seems like condensation (water).

Anything to be worried about?

Pressure test the coolant cap first, if its not that, check for coolant in the trunk under the carpet which is a sure sign of a leaking tank, mine had condensation on it when the coolant tank sprang a leak.

You should order a new coolant cap soon, too. The newest part number should end in at least an xxxxxx04. Yours looks like an xxxxxx02.

How would I do this?

note: Coolant tank is about 2 years old (installed by be dealer)

Any mechanic should have a pressure tester. First, be sure the cap is on tight. Yours looks like it could use anothe 1/8 turn.

Does the underside of your boot lid (rear trunk) where the caps are have condensation on it? Mine does Im in the UK, and especially in cold weather, What happens is, the heat from both caps, when it hits the trunk lid in cold weather especially, will condensate right away and drip down. Mine is like that most of the time here. I have had my car nearly two years no loss of coolant at all. I just keep mopping the condensation up.

I think the plate just below the two caps can be lifted up to expose the coolant pressure relief value. the valve may have hickuped or can no longer hold pressure.

This^^^. It just looks like its sweating. heat and moisture and not able to breath = condensation. Job done. (Incidentally mine in the UK is also the same)
