New glass top trouble. Getting in engine bay.

So over the holidays I had done a few things to my car. I got a new glass top to replace the old plastic one that was cracked.
Looks a million times better but now I can't seem to put the dang thing in service position. It's like the glass is in the way.
Anyone as done the glass replacement and had any trouble with getting into the engine bay?
What did you do to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Depending upon whose top it is, they all reduce engine access somewhat because of the way the top folds. This is one of the reasons why the OEM glass window top has an extra bow in it.

I replaced the top on my 2002S with a glass window top from Cabrio World. It came with a Velcro strap which can be wrapped around the top to hold it in place when working on the engine. It holds up the rear window and makes engine access easier. Any rope or similar device would work. With top in service position feed from rear of top around front lip of top and cinch tightly. This will help hold window out of the way.

it's not too bad. just have to find that "sweet spot" that lets you move the glass the most without obstructing your view by the Z-top. also, get yourself a bungee or a leather strap that you can use to hold the glass up and away, otherwise it will be too close to the engine compartment.

Remove the deck lid and use bungees as Tony recommended.

Thanks for all the help.
Ill try later when I remove my hardtop.
Went to the smog shop and the guy wouldn't do my smog check. Said he must look at the engine.

I use long bungees that wrap around the top and I can hook both ends together.

I have never had that problem here in Santa Barbara County... All the shops I have gone to plug into the on-board computer, put the sniffer in the exhaust, and check the seal on the fuel cap.
