Pennzoil ultra euro 5W40

So I placed an order for this pennzoil ultra euro. I currently have castrol edge 5W50 in my car. Now I don't want to start an oil thread, but this is just to inform everyone on the quality of this oil and also i haven't seen anyone mention it on this forum so ya. I should be receiving it during the week. They also have 0W40 but my engine is pretty high in miles so I didn't want to go with such a thin oil. I will keep you guys posted on my experience with this oil.

On the other hand I think that the castrol oil was pretty good and its one of the few companies that offers the 5W50 and my engine felt smooth in both hot and cold temps. I would defiantly recommend the castrol to the other forum users especially if its on sale.

It's pretty hard finding penzoil ultra in 5w-40 or 0w-40. Was looking to buy some, but could only find it online at a hefty price.

I'm pretty sure the Pennzoil Ultra is on the Porsche approved list.

Bmod986, don't forget, Mobil has a 5W50. Very good oil. Porsche approved.

I am currently testing out the Joe Gibbs DT40 5W40. Jake Raby and Charles N. (L&N Eng.) approved. I'll have my first UOA done in the early Spring. Car is currently in hibernation until April/May.

I know Mobil1 makes the 5W50 but it has to be special ordered and its not cheap. I spent around $108 for a 2 cases of 6q for the pennzoil. The Mobil1 is a bit more, and also we are all familier with Mobil1's good quality so Im just testing the waters for us. Plus I have been doing some reading and it seems that this pennzoil runs pretty clean.

A 12 bottle case of the Joe Gibbs DT40 5W40 is about $167, with shipping and tax included. So, about $13.88/quart.

Mobil 5W50 was about $11. And back in the day when I ran Red Line 5W40, it was about $10.

How long can you go with Joe Gibbs?
I put about 4-5K miles on Castrol Edge 5-40.

That's a question better answered by Charles and Jake.

But, I plan to run about 7,500 miles just like I have with all the other oils I mentioned. My UOA's have always been excellent.

On my 993 Turbo, I run Mobil V-Twin 20W50 and change that at the 5,000 mile mark. Aircooled. High HP's. Turbo. Again, excellent UOA's.

Ok so I have the results from the butt dyno. I gave myself a few miles before posting to have my mind clear from the placebo effect. So here are the facts.

Fact 1. I used 5w50 castrol edge for 6,000 miles or so the oil was very very black so I would have liked to change it sooner. Plus I like keeping the revs high so it also depends on how you drive.

Fact 2. I have been using pennzoil ultra 5W40 and I feel it has a better cold start and it seems to run smoother then the castrol edge. I have used this oil for 340miles just to make sure it feels the same at each start before I posted my experience.

So far I am pleased with my purchase and I feel it was definitely worth it. I will let you guys know how it holds up in the heat later in the summer but for winter use it works great. Aslo something to note is that my box has 119,000 miles and still runs as my daily. I also put on an average of 6,500 miles a year. Not much because I have the pleasure of living in an area where everything is close to my house.

Overall would I recommend this oil to my fellow box owners, yes, its a very good oil and it priced competitively with mobil 1. Only down side is that it has to be ordered online. So ya thats my first hand review as I progress with the car I will let you guys know whats up.

We sell that oil for Dodge SRT engines up to 6.1 Hemi's, and it has a Ferrari approved logo. The new 6.4 uses 0w40 SRT Pennzoil. So you might be able to find it at your friendly Dodge Mopar store. I was thinking of trying it next oil change, I currently run Redline 5w40 in my S.
