Need help in decoding engine number

I bought a 2004 3.2l Boxter S from a Porsche dealer in another city last summer. It had 36,500 miles on it then and has 37,200 now. When I got the maintenance records with the car, I found it got a Porsche remanufactured engine in August 2010 under warranty at 30,750 miles due to IMS failure.

I would like to interpret the engine number to find out the date of remanufacture and any other useful data pertaining to configuration of the IMS and RMS that is in the new engine. I saw a thread on this somewhere recently, but can't find it now.

If it was installed in 2010, it has the "final solution" non serviceable IMS and the latest RMS as well. Any replacement engine after 2005 would be the same .

Interesting that the replacement was a warranty item on a 6 year old car..............

warranty replacement

It really was, at stated mileage. By a Porsche dealer and on his shop order documentation. I am very fortunate. Thanks for the info.
