Boxster Sales Are Way Up In USA

This is from the Porsche web-site:

" Stuttgart sports carmaker still makes no discounts

Porsche Boxster posts strong upturn in North AmericaStuttgart.

In September 2005, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, sold 2,263 vehicles in North America. Deliveries were thus nine percent lower than the equivalent previous-year figure of 2,496 units. This primarily reflects the lower consumer confidence in the USA, which fell to its lowest figure for two years in September 2005. What is more Porsche prefers to relinquish market share than to jeopardize the brand image and value retention of the vehicle by granting discounts, something many competitors are doing.

As a result, Cayenne deliveries in the USA and Canada declined by 25 percent to 1,072 ve-hicles. 687 of the 911 were delivered in September (minus 21 percent). The new all-wheel variants of the 911 Carrera, which are to be launched in North America from November, will give additional impetus to the 911 series. 28 vehicles of the high-performance sports-car Carrera GT were delivered, after 23 units is the previous year. The Boxster underlined its popularity with North American customers, with unit sales increasing by 177 percent to 476 vehicles."
