Cool just in time for my first self oil change-should I get 9 or 10 quarts?
9 will do ya
Don't be short. Get 10. Surprise mine takes 9.5 most of the time.
I'm still surprised my 3.2 liter takes so much oil
Stopped by tonight and my Advance Auto doesn't have Mobil 1 on sale; Castrol synthetic was. Passed.
Per the user manual, the oil capacity is approx 8.25 US liters.

Got 10 quarts this morning... ordered online, drove down to the store and picked it up. Painless, and a great deal. Thanks to the OP.
Quick question was I suppose to buy 5w 40 or 5w 30?
Just found and bought another 15 quarts of 0W-40 at another local store. Now I have enough to do 3 of the cars.....

I switched to Castrol from M1 due to concerns over M1's reformulation. |
yeah, i bought the castrol deal. got the 10-40 for the porsche and the k&n filters for the wife's suv. 10qts and 2 filters for 68.00. it ended up being something like 4.25qt if you factor in the cost of the k&n filters.

Before the sale Castrol was nearly $9 per quart. I remember doing a double take, that would have been easily the most expensive oil change since 2004. |
re:GarderobeMaster
Very informative information, thanks to the author

For those who feel they missed out Walmart carries 5 qt. jugs of Mobil One for around $25.
But not 0W-40 M1.

what about costco? i see them there for a little over $4 per quart. and that is their regular price. not 0-40 though.
Mobil 1 does not bottle 0W-40 in 5 quart bottles. I have implored them to do so in several oil tech sessions.

again, to avoid controversy but just as an FYI for others to do their homework, I believe 0-40 is somewhat controversial for this engine according to the opinion of some engine experts who have posted here. |

Yep, Castrol Syntec / Edge is what I would be running in a M96 motor if I still had one. I spent too many hours perusing the oil debates online, people who I considered "experts" more often than not suggested Castrol Syntec. Regarding Walmart we are also in total agreement, you may be interested in reading "The Bully of Bentonville" by Anthony Bianco....rather eye opening. C'ya PL....... |
Maybe they finally responded to my requests over the last 10 years......
