My windscreen sounds like Kathryn Hepburn shakin' a martini! How do I get rid of the rattle? I don't think the clips are broken. I'm about to go "Here's Johnny" on it if it doesn't quit.

I saw a post about someone using black felt around the edges to quell the incessant chattering. I'm thinking I might give black (not sure it comes in any other color) electrical tape. BMW wind deflectors rattle 10x louder and run just slightly under $500 bucks...so it could be worse. Porsche's uses two little clips to withstand wind buffeting at 70-100 mph, so maybe we're just being a little unrealistic here.

When mine started rattling recently I took it to the dealership. they alread had a "fix" for it, which upon inspection involved putting a piece of very-thin felted tape on that one center mount that the bottom of the windstop sits on.

No more rattling, thank god. Kind of a jimmy-rigged looking fix, but it works great.

Thanks Eslai for the info. I just took mine over to Pioneer for the fix-application and it seems to have done the trick quite nicely.

Just to provide more detail, they attach 1.5 inches of the black felt-tape (that can be purchased at any crafts store or maybe automotive) into the female attachment point of the removable plexus.

In completely unrelated info, I was reading the 987 write-up in the August Panorama which imparts that there is a 12v receptacle in the PASSENGER side footwell. Indeed there is, which makes a handier power source if you're running a radar-detector that isn't hard-wired. Previously I was running the V1 out of the 12v in the armrest and don't remember mention of the footwell one in the owner's manual.

I just found that one the other day! Much more convienent for the X50. In fact, I think they say in the manual not to use the center console one for power products.

What I did on mine(and not just becaue of the rattleing, but also because I have heard of them flying of the car) I opeted for a dap of RTV on each clip. It dose not show, no more rattle or worry of them flying off, and Will not be to hard to remove if needed.
