HELP - can't get into my boxster
 

Its getting cold in Denmark.....
I locked my car with the remote, but this morning I can't unlock the car....

When I push the button on the key the red led is on, but nothing happens, the red alarm led on the dash is still flashing and the car is locked...

I'm thinking that the batteri is nearly dead.....

The BIG problem is that the owner before me removed the keyhole on the doorhandle......!!!

Now I can't get into the car.......

Is there some way to open the front hood or what do I do.....

You sure the previous owner didn't install a plug in the key hole lock.
There are color matched key hole plastic plugs they just insert into the lock..

Easiest would be try a new remote replacement battery.. battery model 2016 (May be different in Europe)

Do you mean the car battery or the key?

Open up the key, the microswitch could be sticking, clean with electrical spray, I had a similar fault a while back.

Is the door lock covered or removed completely??

The door lock is not just covered, I Think is has ben broken or something, there are just a hole, and can't get the key in....

The key batteri is almost new and the red led in the key is lighting, I'm almost sure that the problem is the car batteri.....

Jumper cable connection on the fuse box is not going to help you if the door is inaccessible...
Dilemma.. :(

Bad options...
Break a window, report it to your insurance as vandalism...
The question is, cut the plastic window and crawl through, or break a glass window..?

I would think it would be cheaper to replace a window than a top..
Although none the above options are cheap..

Use the emergency frunk access cable behind your right front wheel cover to open it. Put a charger on your battery or for that matter, replace your battery and than try your remote. This should get you back in.

I was unaware there is a emergency frunk access cable behind the right front wheel cover...

Best to relocate it. Mine is now behind the tow hook cover for easy access.

Bruce, great idea! I ended up putting a longer pull cord on mine so I could just reach up in my wheel well and pull it without having to remove anything...but I like your idea much better!

Tony, its a small braided wire with a loop on the end of it. Mine kinda worked its way towards the front of the car, but its there.

You also have a emergency truck release behind your tail light as well (memory serves me correct its the drivers tail light).

You are welcome, but I can't take full credit. I saw it some where on this forum before. When I had the bumper removed to clean the radiators, I relocated it then.

This morning I got the front hood open with the emergency wire...:)

First I replaced the car batteri - but it did not Help..!!

Then I replaced the key batteri - bit it did not Help...!!

When I open the front hood the alarm went of and the red led on the dash is still flashing...

When I push the unlock button on the key, the red led in the key lights..

It is like the car does not communicate with the key......!!!!!

After five days of non-use the RC receiver is switched off to save battery. You can only open the car with key in the door lock then. At least it is like that with my 02 Boxster S and is described in the owners manual. So taking the lock out of the drivers door would be very strange.

The car is from 97-98....
Is thinking about trying to break in through the door... But the alarm is still on so even if I get into the car, I will probally not be abel to start the car....!!!
Ihhh this boxster is not very popular right now....!!!

If you have the frunk open, just disconnect the alarm horn. Takes 2 minutes; it is to the right of the battery tray, facing the car. I imagine if it is going off you will have no trouble finding it. Just unclip the wires (may need a screwdriver to pry the harness off, but it is not difficult, and will keep the peace)

I think once the key goes in the ignition, the alarm will quit,BTW...

Try a coat hanger through the window seal to push the unlock button on the center console. Never have tried this, switch may not be active without the key in the ignition.

The key's transponder does not use the key's battery. So once you get into the car, inserting and turning the key will reset the alarm if nothing else is triggering it.
