The Right Oil For My 986?

I bought a 986 a few weeks ago and I'm already stressing out about my first oil change and what oil to use. :barf:

Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Mobil 1 0W40. But stick with the Porsche stuff in the transaxle.

The Boxster has a "transaxle" which is the transmission and the differential merged into a single unit. Hence, there is no traditional drive shaft (between the tranmission and the differential). The transaxle is lubricated internally by gear oil.

The transaxle oil can be topped up or replaced as described here: Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Differential / Manual Boxster Transmission Fluid Change - 986 / 987

Any high quality synthetic 10W-40 is good for the car. I have been using Mobil 1. Tried Castol for a couple changes but saw/heard no benefit. Went back to Mobil 1 because I can get it for $30 less per change.

Be sure to change the oil by 5,000 miles or annually which ever is first.
