Time for new rear tires
Got my new rear tires today, actually 1 hour ago.
Less than 12,000 mls. But that is ok, I drive "spirited". :) http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1350678858.jpg  http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1350678870.jpg |
New shoes are always nice. What brand and model did you get?
|
They look like HRTZ III's.
|
Good wear pattern on the old tires. Looks like alignment is good, but you might want to check it. I scrubbed a set of rears that had about 50% left to the wear bars within 3k miles because the rear toe was wrong.

Correct! 3 interwebs points for you :):):) For the money a really good tire. Not the stickiest but quiet, even when worn. |
I hope all 4 tires match.
Your wear looks pretty good. |
Yep, all 4 match. Seems like the fronts last twice as long as the rears in general.

i was wondering if you begin getting increased road noise from the tires as they wore down to the point in your photo-my rear tires are nearly there and they are beginning to become very noisy cant tell if its the tires or something else

Ha! The rears were a little noisy (really a little). That was a real nice surprise because a lot of tires get noisy with age and wear.
Now the fronts are louder than the rears....... It also makes a big difference in tire pressure. The fronts are quiet at approx. 32-33 psi, anything higher = more noise. BTW, these are 17". |
I NEVER notice road noise with my tires as they wear. PS2's on the Boxster, and Yoko's and Kumho on the 993 Turbo.
|
I notice more noise from Hankook RS-3 as they wear. Same for the Toyo R888 track tires but the Nitto NT-01 track tires stay as quiet as the PS2's throughout their life.
