If you had the chance to buy your Box...

over again what would u have done differently? I am perfectly happy with my 2001 Boxster base except the color - namely black. Can't keep it clean. Spend too many $$$ in the wand wash. Any regrets with yours about anything?

My first mod on the car was removing and upgrading the stereo. (Music nut)
My second mod was the Top Speed cat back exhaust, had I put the exhaust on first, I could of saved some bucks on the stereo mod.
I now find myself not turning the stereo on, I rather listen to the exhaust..

Want to trade your 2001 base black for my 2001 base silver?
All my vehicles are black including my motorcycle..
Black and chrome is the bomb.. Yes, it must be kept clean..

Joking on the trade of course.., my car is running like a top and cannot see parting with it..

I have one last mod sitting here in the garage. New rotors and pads. Red calipers are in the forecast with the upgrade.

Regrets..?
previous owner left several door dings on both sides of the car..
but hey, the car is 11 years old and running like a striped ass ape..

T

Zero, perfect car, year, color, timing, location, minimal options. 9.5 years & the love affair continues. :)

Johnny Danger 10-13-2012 07:27 AM

I probably would have opted for yellow stitching on the radiators.

Heiko 10-13-2012 07:32 AM

Ohhh Yes the Yellow Stitching on the rads is a must LMAO

BruceH 10-13-2012 08:46 AM

No regrets! Love the Lapis Blue with Grey interior. Wish it had the heated seats for the upcoming cooler weather.

You should have opted for the S that re-badging and body panel game is fooling nobody.

(legal disclaimer * this post is a joke and meant only for humorous reasons, had it been an actual emergency you would have been directed to a CD shelter)

Gforrest2 10-13-2012 10:04 AM

Should have got an S. If it's going to look like a sports car, it out to perform like one too.

teleski 10-13-2012 10:05 AM

Nothing really. More than I initially wanted to spend for a second car but found a clean solid car. Now that I have been bitten by the bug, my next second car will definitely be a later model Porsche in a bright color and an S.

@Ghostrider 310 - Wow Ghost that was more legal than actual postage! Starting to look like an NFL disclaimer! I understand why but it should be -
Please note: this was an another attempt at humor and had it been an actual emergency you would have been directed to take a joke!

Meanwhile, if I had the chance to buy a Box all over again…I would have gotten it CHEAPER because I now know all the problems it has! And I would have gotten a PPI while I was in Cali! They did the PPI in CA while I was in TX. Had to know IF it was WORTH the trip….long story short….it was! But without me there, of course they are not going to check everything!

Then, I changed the stereo first and should put on exhaust instead. Thanks for pointing that out @Tony!

A black interior still gets sizzling in the sum, sum, summertime in the South! At least Porsche could have used TEFLON on the seats so you DO NOT STICK, especially in 100+ degree days!

Ckrikos 10-13-2012 04:48 PM

Only thing I would have gotten is deviated carpets and stitching.

mcomet 10-13-2012 09:33 PM

Would have paid less, and maybe some better cosmetic issues dealt with, wheel rash, etc. car itself is a blast. I kind of wish I had waited and gotten a 987 but then that was basically out of my budget at the time.... While I am enjoying the convertible there is a part of me wishing I had a cayman...interestingly the wife is less of a convertible lover than we anticipated :/ Of course something tells me I'd be thinking the opposite if I have bought a coupe first...hehe.

jb92563 10-13-2012 10:53 PM

I love my Black on Black 2001 S, would not change a thing.

What I would change is that I should have bought one much sooner.

Steve Tinker 10-14-2012 01:36 AM

I should have bought a Tiburon and pocketed the $117,000 difference.......

schnellman 10-14-2012 11:00 AM

I was very, very lucky to find a Guards Red Box with only 15,000 miles and in excellent condition. I'd buy her over again every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Three years and I've added 30,000 to the clock and nothing but routine maintenance. My only mod has been to deamber.

sb01box 10-14-2012 12:24 PM

should have purchased one sooner. newer model.
otherwise, base 2.7 seal grey - very happy

jsceash 10-14-2012 03:06 PM

The only change is I would have purchased an 2003, 0r 2004 S.

2003S 10-14-2012 03:28 PM

None at all, except I might have tried to find one with an IMS refit already done on it, but went in knowing that I would do it...

doragman 10-14-2012 04:55 PM

only that I should have pulled the trigger years ago

NoGaBiker 10-14-2012 05:09 PM

Lovin' my 04 Anniversary -- it has all the options I wanted at the time (everything except NAV, which I steadfastly did not want. And of course, things like leather-covered coat hooks on the seatbacks.)

If I get rid of it anytime soon it will be because the 09/10 987S models are a pretty good deal now, and the 9A1 seems to be a problem-free motor so far.

nicecar 10-14-2012 05:13 PM

regrets

02 triple black.............service history not present, no ppi since I bought from brumos inJax. Big mistake . Would have negotiated the price because of forseen repairs. Oh and not finding this site priopr to purchase, however would I have bought the car? Now that the car is perfect NO REGRETS.

RandallNeighbour 10-14-2012 05:15 PM

If I had it all to do over again, I would have saved my money and purchased an 03 or younger S model and I would have bought a red one. I'll never own another black car.

And if I had it all to do over again if I had waited to have enough for an 03 S, I would have saved up even more and purchased a pre-owned garage queen 911 Turbo, which is what I've wanted my entire life.

And there you have it. Never satisfied no matter what car I'm driving. So I keep driving my 97 boxster and fixing crap when it breaks down.

HAUSIDMT 10-15-2012 09:19 AM

I would have got one sooner, but waiting and having my brother do all the mods then buying it off of him was a good choice, :)

Same for me. No regrets at all, would do it again. (not sure what Location refers to though).

As a fellow Houstonian, I more than understand the "I'll never own another black car" sentiment. My last two cars were black. The heat was brutal. I always keep cars ten years minimum. When it finally came time to buy a new car, I stayed with my desire to move to white instead of black. Very glad I did.

yale02 10-15-2012 10:13 AM

I am a proud new owner of a low mile 2002 Lapis Blue S and am thrilled to find so many people saying"no regrets."

fatmike 10-15-2012 03:08 PM

Spyder!

Kenny Boxster 10-15-2012 04:08 PM

Wish I knew more problem areas of the car. Could of knocked down an easy $300 from the sales had I know about more issues. However I was very eager to buy the car, and all is well.

Stephan Silverman 10-15-2012 05:02 PM

I would have waited to find a car with PSM or waited to afford an 05

I found a perfect yellow 2002 S with everything checked out and IMS preventatively fixed, new clutch, and much more for $17,000 and 51k on it. I'm happy as a pig in you know what but always wonder about PSM. Since I put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus for the winter months on it I really can't push the rear end out at all unless I am driving way irresponsibly.

Seems to me that it isn't sane outside a track to push a car to make it wiggle under normal speeds.

When I had summer tires the car would wiggle a little in the wet, but now it is on rails? So why do I need PSM? Because it exists and I don't have it.

By the way There's an 02 S with 38kmiles in Texas and it has PSM. Could be had for $17,500 or even less . (on Autotrader). No relationship to owner.

peterbrown77 10-19-2012 01:21 PM

I would have considered a 993....

For me, one of the selling points of the 2002 S that I bought is that it did not have PSM. Different strokes...

Skrapmot 10-19-2012 06:19 PM

Would have liked a clean silver S with a red interior.
I was washing my black on a 75 degree day last week, and thing still got too hot to touch in the sun.
