motor mount?

04 boxster S starting to notice a slight jerk when the tiptronic shifts. Wondering about the front motor mount as the cause. Only have 37K on it, but I do drive it hard. Is that too few miles to see the mount start to go or is time as much of a factor as well? I have a lift, so it shouldn't be too big a job. Do I understand correctly that the 987 mount is interchangable and somewhat improved?

The new mount is definitely more robust, 37K is plenty for it to be junk, mine went at like 20K. I truly believe it's the heat build up where it resides that contributes to failure. You may want to look at Pedro's creations if you want a really fortified mount. Otherwise the new factory unit is better. My advise? Mark the pieces and orientation before replacement, it can be installed wrong.

The 987 mount is indeed interchangeable. I have heard though that 97 and 98 Boxsters require some modification for the updated styles though. Even though you have 37k on it, keep in mind the rubber is 8 years old for your car, and it can degrade over time. Definitely consider your mount, because I noticed shifts were no longer jerky after servicing mine.

I haven't seen camera work like that since the Blair Witch project. Oh and I'm kidding too since this Sunday it seems to be a required disclaimer.

Haha. :D Please excuse me. First time making a video, while one handed.

Here's a comparison of a worn mount, and a new one I took.

Pedro's guide is very good. I wrote up a brief experience of my installation to make it a little more concise. I hope it helps you!

This ^ is spot on. We broke a '08 Boxster with 35k on the clock and the mount was broken, why Porsche could not make a decent modification after all this time is beyond me!
