Brake Rotor thickness

Hi Guys,

anyone has a guide on how to measure brake rotor thickness? Do you measure the other most disk alone or both the inner and outer together? And... what is the minimum permitted for front and back?

You measure the total thickness, ie both inner and outer (plus the gap between).

My manual (covers '97 - '04) indicates different wear limits, depending on which model:

Boxster
Front: 22 mm
Rear: 18 mm
Boxster S
Front: 26 mm
Rear: 22 mm

Thanks. I have 30mm on the front and 26mm on the back. Should be good for quite some time. What are the measurements on new rotors?

I believe the general rule of thumb is that you should replace them when the lip on the outer edge gets to about 1mm.

Ha... strange. My rotors are thicker than new ones, maybe they are aftermarket ones? I do not have any lip on the outer edge.
