I am now the owner of the silver car

Have some new wheels waiting to go on (need to be powder coated first)

Here is a pic of the car now (closer to being one color)

Awesome!! I heard from Kent that you did all the powdercoating on the pieces that went on my car. Wanted to say thanks for that and they turned out fantastic! Can't wait to see the new wheels. Congrats on the new ride.

Nice conversions. How do they cope with engine coolant temperatures?

I'm putting a turbo engine in my 986 S. It already has the center radiator for engine coolant. I'm worried that if I removed it from the system and used it as a charge cooler radiator the small side radiators might not be able to handle keeping the engine cool.

Also, is the small center radiator adequate for a charge cooler set up or do they struggle if driving hard, say on track?

boxster + subaru = BoxsteRu or PosschaRu...

I'v got 2000+ mile inbto my ej 2.5 NA conversion into a 98 base.

I love it, so good in the corners and twisties (?more torque)

I'm only running the 2 main side rads. no problems at all.
If anything my set-up over cools the heatercore, and keeps the temp way down.

I did 2+hrs in heavy city stop and go, (a few months ago when it was 80-90s).
fan did cycle, typ at coming to a stop for never more than 1-2 min).

Really pushing it I did hear the second stage come on one day (ripping up the Hwy1),
It cycled, then dropped to first stage, completely normal.

If you look at Precision motorsports in AZ, they have done a few...

Good luck, I strongly recommend the conversion.

BUT! be ready to make things yourself and get creative, or PAY!

Matt

p.s. I'm more than willing to share my solutions to my conversion...

center rad...

I've been told the center rad is good for a charge cooler, and the side rads are fine for a subaru engine.

but You do have to run,
-independent lines to and back from the tr rad
-an expansion tank
-pressure relief system
-drain
-full time water pump rated for hot coolant...(w/ wiring, tied to eng bay fan too?)

It gets complicated.

sooo anyone care to share a number on this project? How much do you have in this car with paint and bodywork?

How can you put a price on the extra ~150hp with a V8 :-)

Thanks for the reply Matt. I'm putting an Audi S4 2.7 bi turbo engine in mine. I'm expecting it to generate a fair bit of engine heat which is one of the reasons i'm reluctant to use the center radiator as a charge cooler radiator but finding a workable solution for fitting intercoolers in the rear difficult.

I'll say it again, I love that front bumper... I want.
