keys and alarm

a couple of questions for the members,i have a base 2002 986 with two basic keys, the ones with the little led light in them, no buttons locking/unlocking, therefore do i have no factory alarm installed or am i just missing the keys that enable the alarm,if thats the case do i have to get a new blank key at some exorbitant cost from the dealer or is there another option
Is the alarm an option? and how can i find out wether or not i have that option?
if i don't have an alarm installed has anyone installed an aftermarket alarm?
Thanks

Now I'm not certain if this is possible, or if your car had an alarm (I suggest entering your VIN into one of the Porsche VIN decoders to check), but adding keyless back may be an option. I believe all Porsches of that vintage came with keyless, but it may have been a penny-pinching prior owner who decided to go without the remotes to save a buck on replacement.

You may be able to switch the keyblade and Immobilizer pellet from the old key into a new remote (about $145/each) to save from having a new keyblade cut and Immobilizer programmed to the instrument cluster. I'm not sure how the remote is programmed (if possible as a DIY like most Volkswagens I'm familiar with), or if the dealer/shop has to do that.

It is my understanding that the dealer is the only one that can program your key. That being said, they use a PST2 or PIWIS (probably wrong abbreviation), if you have access to either of those that's an option as well...
