2002 headlight plastic melting and yellowing
 

Has anyone else had the inner lense of their headlights burn and bubble into a orange yellow melted color?

Other than replacing the headlight, what are some things I could do to fix this?

Do you have any higher wattage/intensity bulbs fitted?
If so, run them with the recommended spec H7's...

Have you forgotten to turn your lights off at all after parking the car? I have run into this problem with aircraft taxi and landing lights while on the ground waiting for a clearance. No air flow equals no cooling. I've seen Beechcraft Bonanzas with holes melted in the lenses from sitting stationary on the ground for extended periods.

Happens all the time when people run the wrong bulbs in the car. If the lens is fried, the headlight needs to be replaced.

Here is what it looks like. And no I do not leave my lights on after. Can I remove or replace the inner lense?

I think I saw a thread in the DIY forum where someone installed hid's and removed the inner lens. I believe it requires baking the whole assembly in an oven at a specific temperature to loosen the adhesive that holds the clear portion of the headlight to the rear compartment. Once warmed, they can be separated and lens can be removed. Not sure how lens removal would affect halogen bulb light beam, though. You also need to know at what temp to bake so that you don't destroy the entire headlight. Run a search in the DIY forum for DIY HID. ;)
