Seedometer and Tachometer Jumping
 
Hi

I have noticed in the last couple of weeks that my speedo and tacho "jump" from time to time. It is gradually becoming more frequent.

This is definitely not a mechanical problem, as the car idles smoothly and drives just fine. It is only the readings that are varying. Even at idle, the speed gauge jumps sometimes, when completely stationary.

Is there a sensor somewhere that could be faulty, or is it the cluster? All other gauges for temp, fuel etc. are working just fine. Also, when the speed jumps it affects both the digital and analogue gauges.

I have recently changed the brake pads and rotors, water pump, AOS, plugs and plug tubes along with a normal service, not sure if any of these things could have caused the problem.

All suggestions appreciated.

BTW, car is a 986 S MY 2000
