"On Board Computer" you appear to already have it.

Activation of the gauge cluster's on board computer, allowing you to view average and current mpg, miles to empty, outside temperature, etc.
Activation requires a Porsche specific interface device like Durametric.

That's interesting! I guess I have a hacked OBC. If it wasn't hacked what would be displayed?

That depends on model year.
In earlier models, the center display would show only speed. On later models, mileage and trip miles are displayed.

BTW, the onboard computer was a factory option, so if you have it, that doesn't necessarily mean that it was added later.

Huh..... first I've heard of this.
How does one go about doing this hack?
I have a durametric. Is it just as simple as going in and turning it on? That doesn't seem right.....

My car is an '03 S

Yes. Open the Durametric software, select the instrument cluster module, select activations, enable OBC.

You'll then need to add the 4th stalk or a switch(es) to scroll through the different display items.

Bled the brakes for the first time since buying the car. First time autocrossing with it will be this Sunday at Auto Club Speedway, Fontana! Super excited to see what it could do.

See if Pdwight will make you one of his OBC wiring harnesses. If it weren't for him offering that, I would not have added the OBC to my car. The other good thing is that if you want to add the OBC stalk, it is the only one of the 4 stalks that can be added to a 2 or 3 stalk set. All of the other stalks require airbag and steering wheel removal to replace.

My camera doesn't represent exactly how it looked, but I could barely read the gauges at night, and hard to see the (speed) LCD wearing sunglasses.
Now the LCD's are plenty bright, and I can read the gauges.

Sold...after 16 3/4 years of ownership and 150K joyful miles, the new owner picked up the 01S this morning for its move to Oregon. Good luck all.

Finally Made it Legal!

Bought a 2001 in November and slowly did a water pump, thermostat, belt, oil service, installed a new audio system, brakes all around, tires, a nice detail, and fixed the extremely tight factory short shift issue with a gearbox oil service. Finally made it legal for the roads today!

Nice picture of a great looking car. Isn't your steering wheel on the wrong side for Japan? Hard to tell in the picture but looks like left hand drive.

Can you share a link for those lights? Also start a thread on how you did the install and the wiring? My headlights are converted to projectors and my parking lights were sacrificed to Angel Eyes in the conversion. I'm going to try to reinstall the parking lights in the headlights, but if that gets too complicated I may go this route. Would also love to see some night time pictures of the these lights when you're done!

I know the first thing you're going to think is, those can't be any good for that price. I thought that too but you will be surprised, I was.

The turn signals will be easy. Just buy 2 of these from Amazon. Pop out the turn Signal bulb and wire this up and pop it in the bulb hole. For the DRL I have for fine s course of power when ever the key is on.
