What did you do with/to your Boxster today?

Yesterday, top down driving and 20 degrees celcius.....today, snow! Spent the day washing and waxing and vacuuming and she's ready to hibernate.

I attended a Cars and Coffee at Roads Scholar yesterday morning. Plenty great cars in the parking lot and the doors to their shop were opened. Plenty of beautiful and special Porsche's to view. Additional items included a Foose designed custom. I have had a chance to see part of the Ingram Collection in the past and this was nice thing. It appears they may be repeating it.

The car that really caught my fancy was an original IROC 911.

Very quick. It's a down hill, off camber turn and needs to be treated with a little more respect than I gave it. If you hit it right on line, you can accelerate really hard out of it and blast right through turns 8 and 7. For now, I need to not worry about speed and focus on the fundamentals.

Saturday morning I went through the horrible process of putting the car to bed for the winter. When I was changing the oil the temps were in the mid 70's. A few hours later while finishing washing and drying it the temps were in the mid 50's. This is a shot from Monday morning. Nothing like waiting till the last minute to put it away.

Snow is falling, so I guess I'm going to fill the tank, and put the insurance on hold.

I've got a decent list of stuff to do while its sitting- heater core, turn signal stalk, amplifier mount, caliper paint. I should also check on my AOS mount... I think it's leaking.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of changing out a burnt out bulb on the passenger side. I bought a pack of 2 and decided to change both. Anyone who has done this change may know the struggle I had to deal with! The clips holding the electrical wire behind the headlight were broken of course and I had to get creative to attach them in. Did a search here and decided to remove the wheel well to get a reach. The clips on the well were quite annoying and I managed to break one. I did not remove my front wheels and only removed 2 or 3 clips in front of the wheels. This barely gave me enough room to fit my arm in there and tighten the wire into the headlight.
Prior to this method I tried taping behind the wire so they would not be pushed away when installing the headlight back which did not work.

I am glad I can drive her at nights again

Didn't actually do anything with the car, but the Sachs clutch kit arrived today. $298 with free shipping from Vertex Auto's eBay page. Darn good price

This is definitely a DIY job that most could tackle without much trouble. It's a bit time consuming, but not difficult.

RMS, flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out and pilot bearings, etc. I opted to leave the stock dual row IMSB alone. I hope that doesn't come back to bite me. I've never had any ferrous metal in the oil, so hopefully it will hold for a while longer. I will replace it at the first signs of failure (assuming there will be warning signs).

All parts were installed last night (wrapped up at 1am). I'm going to put the transmission back in today and hopefully get it all back together by tonight.

The red bar? That's a Harbor Freight engine support bar. The cost was reasonable, so I just bought one rather than make my own. I put a jack under the sump as well, but it's not supporting any weight. It's just there for added peace of mind.

Hey PW. Looking at your pics it appears that your driver side axle shaft has some gear oil on it along with the crossmember. Mine looked just like that and I could smell the gear oil burning on the exhaust. It would be real easy to change that trans output shaft seal before you put everything back together. Of course it can also be done later.
