Finally have given up on numerous attemps to find a bigger wing that will fit my Z-top and looks better than my ducktail. Must have been meant to be because my paint matches. Filled the holes and painted my hatch. Lesson learned 😐

Thanks. Yes I agree now but I have a head made of cement.
Ill put my 986 numbers back tomorrow and my new 718 taillights are shipped so that will liven it up a bit.

Nice and clean looking now.....

Fourth autocross this year and first autocross after taking EVO Phase 1. Worked at turning early, braking late and hard and powering like mad when on a straight. Seemed to work.

It was hot and I am beat!

Installed the Tarrett underdrive pulley this evening. Super simple! Only sticky issue was sawing off the boss by the pulley. I used a hacksaw blade and got it off with little difficulty.

Used a new bolt with Loctite blue for good measure. Then finished with an oil change.

Where did you end up getting the 718 tail lights from?

I think you should look at getting the Rear Spoiler Trim Nameplate to make it match the 718 even more. Not sure how to mount it, but I'm sure you could figure it out.

I ended up ordering from Extreme Mtr cars. They are coming faster than I expected. They told me a couple weeks but tracking says Aug 1st.
That treatment on the red one really looks sharp. I may look into something like that. Thanks for the pics.

So when are we able to make 718 parts fit our 986?

JBauer 07-27-2019 05:22 PM

This is a pic of a member of one of the Facebook forums. I think he hit it right on the head with his adaptation. Not a photoshop. One of the sharpest 986s Ive seen.

Lightly, 3000, wet sanded and buffed. Really happy with this job. I need to sand more to get some dust out but I couldn't deal with sanding through it so soon. Numbers are just laying there. Figuring out where I want them and getting the straight will take me hours.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1564318319.jpg

Did you not read my post? I said I wasn't sure how it could be mounted, but JBauer could probably figure it out.

That factory part is only $200 but the only one I can find has a matte black logo. If it was chrome I might gamble to see if it could be adapted to a 986 🤔
Would look cool if so.

I know where you can get the chrome version for $116. Remove the **** from the following link.

Sweet! Can't wait to see what you figure out.

Whew, what a pain and what a relief but at last the leaking tank is out. Thanks to all who had been there done that and documented their trials and tribulations on the forum. I disconnected all the hoses on the engine side with the vehicle on the ground then pulled the tank plus the remnant hoses into the trunk. The remote clamp tool was a lifesaver. Sort of feels like a Boxster right of passage.
