Thanks Particlewave.
It's just a HID bulb WITH ballast attached that can be taken out in 5 mins. Here in Europe, it's illegal to advertise Xenons unless you have headlight washers.

I also tapped into the dims and ran a wire out for when the DRL's arrive Monday hopefully.

Looks so much better than yellow/orange and will nicely match your DRLs. ;)

Funny cause the halogens I had in were prob the best u can get in the form of Osram Night Vision plus. And they looked white enough until they went up against HID's or LED's, then they looked yellowish.

Today was door card remove and engine clean day. Loads of work still to go and the dreaded wire looms to go over but she will be a racer 🏁

Polished the snot out of it

Ok, I did a bit more that just polish it & it took more than a day, but I finished it today. Its new to me within the last couple months, but the paint was in poor condition (dry, cloudy, gritty, scratched, swirled, looked like it had had never been waxed & driven only on dirt roads. I ended up having to buy a new machine, pads & chemicals to do the work but it looks pretty good now. I also put in new side lights, fender decals, & debadged the trunk lid in the process.

I've got a stud kit coming in the mail today. I need to pick up a m14 x 1.5 tap before I can put them all in, though.

Techincally this doesn't count as work on the Boxster, but I organized my socket drawer

Cars and Coffee Visitor

Attended the local cars & coffee event on Saturday morning and this visitor made an appearance just as everything was winding down. It was definitely the belle of the ball.

I don't know what MOT stands for, but yeah.

HID in stock housings tend to just throw light everywhere and blind oncoming drivers.

I have only taken a couple short shake down drives to make sure everything has settled, but all I can say is WOW completely transformed the car. Granted the original 2 front dampers were pretty marginal but the rears were in surprisingly good shape. The car ride now feels plush and expensive versus teeth gritting, change rattling jarring over every crack in the road, like an old VW. Feel is very firm on turn entry and flat. I am Very happy so far.
FYI when I did the rears I disconnected the control arms at the camber and toe adjustment bolts. Piece of cake. Hardest part was getting the struts into the bearing carrier from all the gold paint on the body of the new strut. I had to loosely reassemble then jacked the carrier up onto the strut. I did it over 2 days about 5 hours each end. I will say that's a lot of work to just change 4 struts.

Planning on doing some minor tweaks to the bodywork on the front end. I'm sure nobody else would notice but I'm a bit... particular on getting it exact. :D

Took it out of storage and gave it a good wash. Happy to have it back home again.

Boxxster - That looks really really clean and beautiful. What color is your car?

Rexcramer - I definitely will, still deciding on tires....

225/40 fronts.... or
235/40 fronts.... :ah:

boxxster 03-28-2017 01:46 PM

Thanks. Its called dark teal metallic.

Also interested to see how those wheels will look. 225/40 is the OE tire size for the 7.5" fronts.

itskenallen 03-29-2017 01:16 AM

Beautiful car above boxxter, I nearly bought a guards red manual and with those wheels. Instead I opted for an Atlas grey tiptronic.

I just received the ashtray delete kit in the post so I'll be installing that today. Along with a few led bulbs. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c2ec3c458b.jpg

Edit... Here it is installed
