air bag warning light..HELP!!
 

Hi all.I just purchased a 98 boxster, however the passenger window regulator needs replaced. diassembled the door to find the problem and during disassembly i took the air bag out. now the air bag light is on after i put it back together. do i need to take the car to the dealer to get the light turned off or is there a way to do it myself. thanks!

You'll have to take it to a dealer to have it turned off. Good news is you can go ahead and have the On Board Computer turned on at the same time. You'll only get outside temp at first but you can add a switch or stalk for full function. Next time unplug your battery for at least 30mins before messing w/ anything electrical especially the airbags. Be sure to have your radio code handy for future too. Another small thing the dealership can help you w/ while your there. That is if you dont already have it. I hope you were at least able to get your window fixed.

The same thing happened to me when I unplugged the wiring harness to my seat. If you have access to a PS2 tool, then you can reset it yourself. That's the only way to turn it off. The dealer charged me 50 bones to turn it off, but i think they shoulda done it for free. Some dealers do it for free. It only takes a couple of minutes.

And like Nautiquelfe said, just unplug your battery before you do the work next time. Also be sure to have your radio code handy.

The window regulator thing is a fairly common problem. If you end up replacing it yourself, we'd like to hear how it goes.

I typed it wrong in my first post. It's actually a "PST2" tool.

I think they are too expensive of the average person to own. If there was a way to get just the software and load it on to a laptop, and just plug the laptop into your car, that would be awesome.
