Brake Job
I'm looking at rotor and pad replacement on the front and rear of a 2002 S. The quote I got was for Zimmerman rotors and Pagid pads. Are these good brands or are there brands to stay away from? Quote was $124 for each front rotor and $109 each rear. Pads were $119 for the front and $79 for the rear. Any info would be appreciated.

A fair price for quality hardware. I prefer Zimmerman rotors.

Go with Mintex, cheaper than the pagids, excellent coefficient of friction and little dust.

Zimmerman and pagid or textar is what I use and they are great. Next time I intend to try some type of ceramic pads to relieve some of the dust. Those prices are good.

Those prices are good and fair.
I use Zimmerman cross-drilled with EBC Yellow Stuff pads...no complains, less dust. |
Those are good prices. If you are on a budget and want top quality go with Balo rotors and Mintex pads. Balo is OEM and made in Germany and you can get it coated so it looks great. Mintex are made by TMD like the others and work very well. You can not go wrong with these two brands, I have them on mine and they work as well as the Genuine parts.
Bala Rotors: $115 pair rear coated, $145 par front coated. Pelican Mintex Pads: $37 pair front, $48 pair rear. auto-hausAZ Good luck. |
Thanks guys just wanted to check and make sure pricing and quality was OK.

Brake pads and rotors
I just installed Zimmerman drilled rotors all around and EBC yellow stuff on a 2002S. I did quite a bit of research and spoke to someone at Pagid before deciding on the EBC. They were a bit noisy for the first two weeks but are fine now. The two things I always want in a performance car are good brakes and good tires. Always felt it was more important to stop fast than go fast. Don't get me wrong, I like to go fast too but I would put my money in safety before speed. I also liked the fact that the Zimmermans were coated and the hub part doesn't seem to rust as quickly.

Balo rotors and Mintex pads are very good, cannot tell any difference between them. Fit was perfect.
