97 Boxster Power Steering Question?

When I bought my Boxster the steering always felt sorta loose going over bumps and had steering wheel shake on the highway.

I replaced:
shocks
outer tie rods
drop links

Still the loose/shake problem remained after all that work. ugh!

researched on this site and some people recommended checking the power steering fluid.

I checked the Fluid and it was low....didnt register on the dip stick.

I went out and bought the correct fluid and filled up the power steering reservoir.

Finally the looseness and shakes on the highway were gone and the handling of the car was 100% better. Felt like a whole new car by just filling up the fluid.

The question I have is what could have wore out in the steering system due to low power steering fluid?

after a month of nice handling the exact same The loose/shaking issue is back now and the fluid is still full.

Just wondering what parts I should inspect in the steering?

thanks

Assuming that the PS fluid is not leaking and the pump is functioning correctly, then I would think tie rods/drop links/anti-rollbar bushes.
Why did you only replace the outer tie rods? If they were worn, theres a good chance the inner rod bearings are worn too. They bolt strait into the steering rack and if the inner ball joint(s) are loose, then you can feel the knock in the steering.

Wish I had replaced the inner ones at this point.

The issue is intermediate ....... sometimes the steering is nice and tight and sometimes its loose and shakey.

I know when I topped off the power steering fluid it fixed the issue for a while but now it sometimes comes back at this point.
