Soft Top thread showing
Interesting thing happened last time I put my soft top up (which it stays down a lot over the summer) - this kinda "cabled" thread came out of wherever it normally occupies and formed a sort of horseshoe loop on the passenger side.
Put the top down again, then back up, and it retracted almost fully, but it is still visable (like it was in a channel before and is now out of that channel, or some other mechanism that hid it previously) I've got a couple pics - anyone had this happen? Worrisome, or a self-correcting thing? I appreciate any and all info - this is why this is a great forum. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1345649801.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1345649828.jpg |

greatly appreciate that - rarely does there seem to be a truly unique Boxster issue, which is both bad and good I suppose.
Thanks again - looks like a potentially simple issue, once properly diagnosed. |
That cable is suppose to be inside the top running along where it is now. See this article so you can get an understanding of what it does. You may be able to fix it yourself.

JCB, thanks a bunch - shoulda known Pelican would have something on it. That's very helpful - I'm not the most technically minded fella, but its amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it, have the right information, and of course get the labor estimate from the mechanic! :)

The fix is to tighten the velcro loop on the round top frame as tight as it will get then put duct tape on it so it won't come loose. Not pretty, but effective.
