Question: CD tray replacement

I purchased a cubby tray hoping to replace my CD tray and found out it is designed to go in the same lower slot the ac controls is in.
It has the same curved side as the ac controls.

Is there a cubby tray that is square that fit's in the the 2nd slot for a 2001?

let me know
Thanks

Thanks particlewave for that moment of clarity..

My own stupidity. I ordered the 996 552 243 01.
My stupid logic thinking lower meaning the lower section of the dash.

I will have some dash trays for sale soon...
cup holder, lower cubby tray 243 01, CD tray, CDR-220 with code..

Thanks

I don't know what the dealer charges but here's an OEM from Ebay for $61. Same seller that sells the double din kits.

PORSCHE 986 BOXSTER RADIO SUPPORT SHELF (CUBBY BIN) | eBay

Nice install BTW. Hope to do that to my Boxster eventually.

Decided not to get the cheap Chinese double din.

Did you consider the Pioneer unit or is Kenwood the way to go?

I considered the Pioneer unit, but I have a Kenwood DNX8120 I put in my Tacoma truck. I am a big fan of Garmin GPS, boat, car etc.
So I had previous experience with Garmin & Kenwood.

When everyone is selling that unit (DNX6190HD) I purchased for $849, I jumped on the $625 price out of Georgia with free shipping and no sales tax..

I paid $800 for my DNX8120 several years ago, so I knew the price ranges.
That older unit has a external HD FM receiver, where as the DNX6190HD has the HD FM receiver built into the unit.

Hope that helps

After I purchased the one from Oklahoma Foreign, I had a friend tell me he had one for $30 and he replied to my email this morning stating it was the same one I already ordered. but failed to mention it is cracked.
The one I purchased was $35 plus shipping from Oklahoma Foreign off of ebay. I checked with Oklahoma Foreign and they do not have the 996 552 253 01.
I found a parts supplier locally here that has them for $46.11 which I'm going to call them and drive over there at lunch. See if they will barter for the one I have..

here's the link - Porsche Boxster/986 1997-2004 Shelf instead of radio satin black
