Engine Light on at Half Tank

My check engine light comes on when my fuel level hits around a half tank. When I fill it up it disappears in about 30 miles. Any ideas?? I have replaced the gas cap with a new OEM one.
Thanks,
Tom

Next time that happens, get the code read and post it here. The EVAP system in cars uses the fuel level as an input (one of the inputs) to determine if the EVAP test can run.

Also, post what model year your car is so we know which DME version you have as some of the codes are different (even though they have the same number).

paul...

Interesting. I didn't realize there was a connection through the fuel level. I have the codes at home from the last time it did this. I'll post them tonight. The car is a '99 base.

Thanks!
