Tire fitment question

I got a set of Carera Rims with tires yesterday for a good price, sport II IIRC (10 spokes). These are as follows:

Front 235/40 ZR 18 7.5 x 50

Rear 295/35 ZR 18 10 x 65

Tires are Pirelli Corsa. My car is a 2002 S clad with 17 inch "Twist" rims.

What issues will I have? Will I have to replace the tires with 225/40 ZR 18 & 265/35 ZR 18/

Thanks

Front should fit fine as is. Rear 295 will not fit Boxster & you don't want them to unless you are building a drag racer. Rear wheels need a 15mm-25mm spacer. Depending on the "look" you want & tire size you get. 265/35 is best for handling & cost. A 285/30 is the biggest you can go but makes the car understeer.

Many thanks.

Looks like I need to buy rears.

Jaak,

Those are truly beautiful rims, I'd love a set for my 2000S

A guy in Windser has a nice set complete with tires. I was looking at them but the 4 hour drive one way is not worth it.

On Kijiji ---> Porsche 996/Brombacher, 3 piece wheels and tires - City of Toronto Tires, Rims For Sale - Kijiji City of Toronto Canada.

What about 265/40 ZR18's for the rears? They seem to be readly available.

265/40 is too tall.

Jaak 07-26-2012 11:22 AM

Thanks ... I kind of thought so ...

Actually, a 265/40-18 would be perfect with the 235/40-18 fronts. That's the factory fitment on my 987.

You're correct but he has a 986 which is 225/40/18 F & 265/35/18 R.

stephen wilson 07-26-2012 03:00 PM

True, but the wheels he bought already have 235/40 tires mounted.

Jaak 07-26-2012 04:53 PM

Yes ... 235 on the fronts.

Folks, your are a great help!!!

My main worry is stability while driving.

Saw an ad on Kijiji where I can get the correct tires front and rear for $650. Pirelli Pzero Nero with 90% of tread existing .. Going to get those and replace all 4 tires.

Thanks for your feedback!
