"A S" on bodywork, whats it mean?

I saw the letters "A S" on my right rear inner sheet metal when I removed the bumper. I wondered what it meant, but didn't think much about it until I saw another photo where someone else had the same letters.
Anyone know what it means? Anyone seen other letters?

Here's my car:

Here's a car I saw in another thread:

I see a large pattern arising... Since my car is black, if i'm ever in there I'll be sure to check if it is different :P What job are you guys doing here? Why would you need to remove the rear bumper? IMS bearing? To remove the muffler?

With all my spare time....

I polished up the chambers on my aftermarket muffler last winter.
When the LN IMS bearing went in last summer, I got a good look at the muffler on the floor at my indie's shop. It was mostly painted black and was a dingy oxidized stainless steel colour where the paint was missing.
If you want to make your wife shake her head and roll her eyes, take on a project like that...
It cleaned up really nice, though.

Took a quick look on my project car and it has a "CW" on it. My car is Carrara White, so it's definitely your paint color initials.

I'll post a photo later

P.S. I had the bumper off to find a exhaust leak.

Thanks for the info.

Seems funny in this age of totally computerized assembly lines, they are still scribbling on the body panels.

You'd think they could glance at it and tell what color it is... Did anybody check to see if it's in Braille?

I will be taking off my rear body panel for a clutch replacement this week. I will upload a pick if I come across the intriguing "AS" and I DO have a 2002 Artic Silver.

UPDATE: Pulled off the bumper and sure enough! There is that guys initials inside mine as well. Must be an artic silver thing?
